Main oven switch...

My husband recently replaced the oven switch and thermostat in my Defy 600S oven. Since then the top element doesn't seem to come on fully when I am baking or roasting and the oven does not seem to reach the correct temperature. If I touch the top element with a wet sponge it sizzles slightly but does not glow red. It does glow red however if it is put on to grill. Is this correct?

4 yes it is correct.the grill element should ony get red hot when its on grill and should get slightlt hot when on bake so ur cake does not get burnt.
