how to wire for 230 volts. The diagram does not look like the motor wiring and they show 5 wires instead of two load wires a ground and a neutral. WHAT?

5 1- 230/240 v stands for single phase voltage, which means that there is 120v on each leg as you test from line side to ground. (which is always green or bare copper). 2- 120/240 3phase is not around that much in homes anymore. it means there are three hot leads, two have 120/ volts on each, and the third has approx, 170volts. mainly used for home ac,s. commercial, jobs thats almost all we use, only it's 120/208 3 phase. 3-you may have a pump that can use both voltages, that would account for the extra wire. 4- neutral is a white wire, it is mostly used for electronics that would control the pump, 5- for most simple applications, the two hot legs are used, and the ground has to used at all times. the others wire/wires are to be wing nutted off, and buried so the do not touch anything else. ALWAYS TURN POWER OFF!!!! before servicing, (not just at a time clock if used). 6- test for voltage first, 7- make sure label is correct on pump. DO NOT RUN PUMP WITHOUT WATER!!!!!!

0 what is on the end of the motor where the wiring is looks like the following. oa green nut | lug marked with an "a" U L2 and another U L1 last two items were two lugs each, wiyh the two L2 ligs shaped like the letter "U" and the same for the one at L1. The single lu Question is if the l1 and le g which is marked "A" has an arrow with the 230 volts pointing. to it which I assume is for a 230 load wire ( I may be wrong). There is another note pasted on the inner plate which says connect both the L1 and L2 to the lines in. The line 1 and line 2 are well defined as the numbers are right next to the lugs
