i have a 4 yr old craftsman belt drive dc motor ga...

i have a 4 yr old craftsman belt drive dc motor gar. door opener and the bulbs go on/off every 8 second intervals….even if i unscrew them the unit i still hear the switch sounds every 8 seconds…..it is very annoying….what is wrong ?
