cant close the garage door by pressing the wires r...

cant close the garage door by pressing the wires remote. The only way to close the door is by pushing and holding the wall unit button. The electric eye is at the bottom of the door is on red. and it will turn off when I cross it or put something in its path. What is the problem? Thank you. Alex
