I have a pilot light lit but the fire will not com...

I have a pilot light lit but the fire will not come on. Is there a sensor that needs to be replaced or something? One thing, prior to this happening, the fire would go out after burning for a while, then it would come back on after a while. If you have ant thoughts, I'd appreciate. Thanks
