Coleman Presidential II M 7690B furnace pilot will not light. As long as you hold the pilot it will light but when you release it it goes out.

0 almost all pilot lights operate the same --holding the Pilot button down is to heat a thermocouple that "notifies" the gas valve controller to open the gas valve .
