A Liftmaster chamberlain 1140, one quarter hp chain no longer will go up or down, even if I disconnect the motor chain from the door. Nothing seems to be locking or preventing the chain movement. When activated I only hear the motor and no action on the chain. Prior to this point nothing was wrong with the door opener and it seemed to work perfectly. 5 Hello Steven, it is entirely possible what you are experiencing is the output shaft from the lift motor has sheared something in the sprocket. Can you see the sprocket rotate when you press the button to lift or lower the garage door?
