Bleeding radiators...

Is it necessary to turn water supply on or does automatic valve provide enough water to complete this process.

0 If there is a shutoff valve in the cold water line ahead of the auto fill valve, it must be open for auto fill valve to function. Auto fill valve should be downstream of the shutoff valve. Auto valve opens and closes in response to pressure in closed boiler system. During normal use, shutoff valve must not be closed. any drop in system pressure caused by bleeding of radiation devices will be made up by auto valve opening to allow additional water into system.
