My machine is sewing towards me and not away from ...

My machine is sewing towards me and not away from me? does anyone know how i can get it to sew away from meas normal? The machine hasbeen passed down to me from my mum, but she has unfortunately suffered a stroke and cannot speak now and cant tell me whats wrong with it... thanks in advance and kindest regards, lisa.
