My granddaughter got this machine for Christmas. Today I was trying to help her make a buttonhole. I have a lot of sewing experience but can't understand the instrux. For one thing the buttonhole lever comes down and I can push it to the back but it is nowhere near the little white rectangular place on the main foot so it can go in front of it as the diagram shows, rather than way to the back. Also, no matter what I've tried, I cannot get the material to advance in order to create the right and left sides of the buttonhole. Perhaps it is because the lever will not position as shown in the diagram.

5 Answer to grandmother who was trying to help grandaughter with buttonholer. The secret is don't look at the picture in manual. Simply pull down and push back the buttonhole lever. Adjust stitches with practice. When the stitches finishe the level comes back forward so you need to be sure it is in the back position. It does not go in front of anything. The picture is misleading because I do had the same problem with showing my granddaughter

0 Th is is not a user friendly manual! I also can not make the button hole work. Aside from not being sure the doles are set right, when I do try to make the button hole-the fabric does not advance. I also have a problem with the lever-when I pull it down,it clips on to needle. Then needle won't work. I'm so frustrated!!! Please help!

0 Never knew how spoiled I was with my old Vicking D2 until I tried to make a simple button home on a brother LS590. Not a machine for a newbe. Taking that thing back to store and buying 9 year old niece a new viking!
