3 Is this your first machine? I have one of these and a brother LX-3125. I found the VX-1500 a pain. If it is your first machine use the hand wheel to rotate the needle down While holding the tail. Once the needle has gone down and the thread is starting to rotate the bobbin apply slight tension to the tail you are holding. Continue to rotate the wheel until needle is raised. At this time the "needles thread should have caught the bobbins thread and and pulled it up. Pull the tails out a fair amount so you don't lose one when you start. Also, make certain your bobbin in locked into position in it's case and the thread is coming from the bobbin in the correct direction. When holding my metal bobbin in my hand, the thread pulls counter clockwise before placing it into my front loading bobbin case. Next you could have a bent needle which is unlikely if it is new.

0 Where is the thread tension suppose to be set at? My sewing maching keeps the thread loose and am tired of it.
