Question About Bradford-White Corp Water Heater Powered Direct Vent Series

We own a power vented Bradford White water heater. Twice recently we had no hot water. I believe the power vent was running (for a long period of time) and only the pilot light was on, not the entire flame. What is the problem with our water heater?
