How to use different attachments for a Bissell car...

How to use different attachments for a Bissell carpet cleaner model 36z9. The tools in question are the 3 inch tough stain tool part #203-6651, and the stain trapper tool part #160-0057. We would like to know how to use both of these tools, and which one is used to clean carpet on stairs.
