Question About Aprilaire Thermostat 8363
The thermostat batteries seem to run down too soon...

The thermostat batteries seem to run down too soon, and then the furnace doesn't work at all, usually when I am away from home for extended perios. Are the batteries just a backup in case of power failure, or are they always necessary just to make the thermostat function? Shouldn't they last at least a year?
