We have to change the batteries on our thermostat 4 or 5 times a year. We always change with brand new batteries. We know when it is time to change them because it will turn on and off fast and i can hear the heat pump turning on and off. It seems like it is running off the batteries only. I thought the batteries were just for saving the settings in a power outage.
