I have an A O Smith gas hot water heater. It's only about 3 years old. It's a GCV 40 100 model. The burner will not stay lit. It might stay lit for 10 minutes or 20 minutes but then shuts off. The intake screen is clean. I took the flue pipe off and its all clear as far as I can see to the exhaust chimney. Anybody have any ideas what else it may be? Thank you. Patrick

0 Pilot won't stay lit I also have the same problem, the first time was almost 4 years ago, A.O. smith repaired. I guess I have to call them back again, I think it's still under warranty

0 We also have the same problem. We have had it serviced several times. It was cleaned, thermocouple replaced, burner assembyl replaced venting to chimney changed and we still have the same problem. The plumber stated that LOTS of people with the same model have the same problem. Shame on AO SMITH!!!!

0 I'm looking into replacing the thermocouple or pilot assembly. Manual says to replace pilot assembly. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dean
