Product Problem: Honeywell Thermostate

We just moved into a house and cannot figure out how to operate our thermostate. The furnace is 13 years old. The thermostate looks to be a 7 day setting. We find no model number. It has a hold button, up arrow, down arrow, and a select button on face of it. With this little information, can you tell us how to operate?

what is the difference between EM heat and heat and why does a red light come on with EM heat and not heat?

My aux heat came on last night and ran all night. Changed back this morning to heat. I do not understand. This is a new product for me and I cannot find my owners manual.
