INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
THERMOSTAT - REMOTE CONTROL
THERMOSTAT
It is suggested by the manufacturer that a qualified individual make this installation.
Your DiamondGlo II and DiamondGlo JR is shipped from the factory with a thermostat included.
Follow these instructions for the installation and operation of this thermostat.
Locate the control valve at the back of the heater. Notice the electric terminals on the control
valve, located on the right hand side of the valve when facing the back of the heater. See FIG 1.
1. Decide where you want to mount the thermostat. The thermostat can be mounted directly to the
back of the heater using the bracket that is furnished with the thermostat or it can be located on a
wall adjacent to the heater. (The bracket can be discarded if the thermostat is mounted on the wall
adjacent to the heater.)
2. Run wire (included) from the log set to the location of the thermostat.
3. It is recommended that only the wire furnished with the thermostat is used.
4. You may cut the wire to the appropriate length needed, but it is recommended not to use any
additional wire, so locate the thermostat within the distance of the wire included.
5. Attach the two bare end wires to the wall thermostat.
6. Make sure the ON/OFF lever on the wall thermostat is turned
OFF and mount the wall thermostat. The cover of the
thermostat snaps off for access to the mounting screw location.
7. Attach the two wires at the control valve to the two outside terminals on
the terminal block. See drawing at right. (FIG. 1) (Make sure the wall
thermostat is turned OFF.)
8. Follow the safety information on page 9 of this instruction manual.
9. Follow the lighting instructions on page 9 of this instruction manual.
10. After lighting the pilot, turn the ON/OFF control knob (FIG. 4 on page 9) to the ON position and
the thermostat ON/OFF lever to the ON position. Adjust the temperature lever to the desired
position. You can now adjust the HI/LOW knob to the desired level. If you have the HI/LOW
control knob on “HI” the log set will burn on high flame when the thermostat calls for heat. If you
have the HI/LOW control knob on “LOW” the log set will burn on low flame when the
thermostat calls for heat.
11. You can allow the log set to operate by the thermostat setting or you can keep the log set from
operating by turning the ON/OFF lever to “OFF” on the thermostat.
12. It is recommended that the ON/OFF control knob (FIG. 4 on page 9) on the control valve be turned to
the “OFF” position when leaving home for any period of time.
