®
by Conair
Lowback
Backrest Support provides support and comfort for your back to assist in the
relief of back discomfort.
The “S”-shaped frame conforms to the contours of the back to guide the spine
into correct alignment and place you in a proper sitting posture. The Lowback
Backrest Support, lightweight and portable, turns any chair into an ergonomic
seating system; it can be used in the home, office, vehicle, or anywhere else
you sit. (Before using your Lowback
Backrest Support in a vehicle, please
consult the owner's manual to ensure that you can properly adjust your
vehicle's seat and/or headrest after installation.)
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q. How does the Obus Forme
®
by Conair
Lowback
Backrest Support fasten
to a seat or chair?
A. It stays in position when the elastic stretch loop is placed or stretched over
most chairs or vehicle seats. The stretch loop is not necessary on couches
or sofas.
Q. Why use a lumbar support pad?
A. The lumbar support pad provides added support for the lower spine by filling
in the lower inward curve of your back. The lumbar support can be used for
everyday use as additional lower back support or to reduce spinal stress.
Please Note:
It is not necessary to use the lumbar support pad with your
Lowback
Backrest Support. If the lumbar support pad feels bulky or
uncomfortable, you may not have an excessive lumbar curve that requires
extra support.
Q. How is the lumbar support pad positioned?
A. Place your buttocks as far back into the Obus Forme
®
by Conair
Lowback
Backrest Support as possible. Lean forward and insert the
lumbar support pad horizontally across your lower back, above your belt line.
Lean back so the hollow in the lower back is firmly supported.
Whatever feels comfortable is right for you.
Helpful Hint: To prevent the loss of your lumbar support pad, we recom-
mend you position it inside the backrest’s cover. Simply separate the fastener
at the back of your backrest and place the lumbar support pad inside the
cover toward the front of the backrest. Again, position it where it feels
comfortable. Reseal the fastener.
Q. Are there any other uses for the lumbar support pad?
A. Yes, there are a variety of uses for the lumbar support pad:
• Use it as a bolster behind the Obus Forme
®
by Conair
Lowback
Backrest Support to reduce seat depth of chairs and sofas.
• Try it on its own for additional comfort and support in any chair.
Q. How is the Lowback
Backrest Support cleaned?
A. The cover is made of synthetic materials. It’s easy to clean with a mild soap
and a sponge, damp cloth, or soft brush. Do not rub the cover excessively or
place it in a washing machine. The cover can be removed and hand washed
in cool water. Hang to dry.
To smooth out wrinkled fabric, remove the backrest’s cover and iron it using
the iron’s lowest setting.
Helpful Hint: To increase the air circulation in your backrest, you may remove
the thin plastic layer that lies between the foam and the cover. Simply
separate the fastener at the back of your backrest, remove the cover, tear off
the plastic layer, and replace the cover.
Please Note:
The Obus Forme
®
by Conair
Lowback
Backrest Support may in some
cases require time to get used to. Over the years your spine has become
less flexible, and needs time to adjust to its natural shape again. If you feel
discomfort when using your Lowback
Backrest Support for the first time,
it is recommended that you use it for shorter periods of time, gradually
increasing your usage until you feel comfortable.
If you have a very sore back or small curvature (lumbar area), it is highly
recommended that you allow yourself a break-in period of at least 30 days
in order to obtain the full benefits of your Lowback
Backrest Support.
