Change to digital thermostat

I believe this model supports a heat pump. What can I buy to replace this thermostate? I have 7 or 8 wires inside the wall unit. Most I have looks to purchase have 5. No one at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc can not advise me what to purchase. I also understand that a programable thermostate can be a problem...and have been advised to get one that is not programable. Honeywell and Hunter seem to be the one available. Will wiring the new won be a problem? Once I take the old one off the wall what will the wires coming from the wall look like? Will I be able to wire it to a new one?
