  • furnace does not start at night?

Mine just started doing this. I am still troubleshooting, but it looks like the hot surface ignitor is cracked. If you are looking at the furnace it is the right hand sensor. It is kind of a "m" shape. The screw that attaches it is 1/4". The sensor on the left is a thermocouple that after the falme is lit it will allow full pressure through. Hope this helps.

If you look at the lower half of the enclosure there is a window. Look in the window, if there is a fault it will blink. The first blink or blinks will be slow.(this is the first digit of your fault) The next few will be noticeably faster.(This is your second digit.) There should boe codes on the outside of your enclosure for these faults. Mine was a #14 lock out. Because it tried to light three times and was unsuccessful. I t refers you to code #34 no light off. Check the hot surface ignitor, if this is your fault. Good luck.

I changed out the hot surface ignitor and works great now! To check it put the lower half cover on.(This pushes in the safety switch to allow it to start.) The blower motor will run for about 30 seconds then turn off. You should then hear the gas solenoid open. Look at tthe hot surface ignitor ("M" shaped.) If it is not glowing bright orange it will not light. I purchased one for about $50.00 part # LH 33ZS 004. When you install the new one take both covers off so there is no power to the hot surface ignitor. Pull the plastic connector apart. (You do not need to push in the tangs on the clip, just have to pull hard.) Do not touch the "M" shaped portion hot surface ignitor as this will leave oil from your hands on it and it will fail prematurely. Screw it back on to the standoff bracket and install. Put the lower cover on and wait for the blower to run 30sec. then make sure it glows bright orange and lights. Hope this helps you with your problem!
