GE AJES 12 DCB

In heat mode the unit will be heating fine and then all of the sudden start blowing cool air instead and after a while it will blow hot air again. I am thinking it's a thermostat or heating element problem. Any one else have this problem if so is it an easy fix? Thanks for any help you may have.
