smoke coming out of stove

heard 2 very large unusual popping sounds when the fire started and smoke was coming out of the stove so I shut it off. now the stove is full of smoke and the smoke is seeping out of the stove into the room. we have a flue outside that should prevent fire coming in the house please hellp
