You can download the users' manual for free at eureka.com. Click on customer service and then click on owners' guide on the left of the screen. Your model number is 2981bvz. Basically, you access the belt through the top of the hood, so you have to unscrew the two screws on the top of the hood. (See owner's manual for pictures.) I just changed mine today and it made a huge difference.
