What Merv Rating Filter Should I Use?
I have a Arcoaire RPJ II furnace, built in 1996. Actually I have two of them... one in the basement and one in the attic.

    They support 16x25x1 size filters.

But I am confused about what Merv rating to get? I heard that if you go too high, it can restrict airflow too much. And if you go too low, it can damage the furnace.

We suffer from airborne allergies in our household. Plus we have a pet cat.

What Merv rating filter should we use?

    Air Filter
This furnace has a very difficult access for the filter. Any suggestions as to how to replace filter and what size to use. Thanks in advance.

    blower noise on shutdown
    I have an Arcoaire furnace,RPJ 2, Model GNJ075N12C1, Serial #L9707 50638,
works fine except has developed noise, I guess from fan-forced heat blower, when it shuts down, it sounds like the squirrel cage is beginning to hit on the housing making a jingle bell sound--I'm guessing the bearings are going out on the squirrel cage blower. no noticeable noise when the blower is operating, just when the squirrel cage is coasting to a stop. any suggestions? ("get it fixed!" probably :0)

Furnace ignites and then shuts off, blows cold air and then ignites again, may do this a couple of times before sstarting to blow heat.

BLOWS OUT COLD AIR AT TIMES
At times, it blows out cold air. Gas Technician thinks it is the humidifier taking over. He reduced it but yet blows cold air.
We have to turn off and On for hot air. After some time, again cold air.
